Thematic Lessons in high school, are not as easy to execute and prepare as they are in elementary. Here, I have listed three possible themed lessons for high school agricscience.

1. Std 20: Describe the structures and function of different seed components and summarize their roles in plant reproduction and propagation. For this lesson, I could dress as a farmer, to gain the students attention, and I could also pass around different seeds to show the students. Then, we could go outside and plant the seeds and then the entire class could be considered “farmers”.

2. Std 13: Using graphic illustrations and supporting text, identify and describe major animal body systems (skeletal, muscular, respiratory, digestive, nervous, circulatory, and reproductive) to establish a basic knowledge of their purpose, structure, and function. For this, suppose I take one day to cover each system, on the skeletal day, I could dress in a skeletal suit. Like little kids wear on Halloween. Then I could bring out skeleton’s of different animals and name some of the bones so students can compare/contrast the types of animals/bones.

3. Std 1: Synthesize research on the historical importance and purpose of agriculture and agriculture organizations, identifying major events, opportunities and technological developments influenced by agriscience theories and practices. For this, I would dress up as Temple Grandin and give a brief overview of her life and what it was like to revolutionize agriculture. I also would have a presentation of other major historical figures that heavily contributed to agriculture.
