To be quite honest I can picture the flow chart we created in Tap 1/2, but I do not remember very much of it. I know there are formative and summative assessments, but I am not 100% sure the branches of each. I could use more work on assessments because I don’t recall them very well. This subject is one of the lesser known topics for me.

This week at Jere Whitson I got to take attendance for the first time! I wasn’t very confident going into the week, but it got better. I changed the grade that I wanted to teach, so I was unsure of how I was going to do, now that my plans have changed. In the special education class, I don’t get to do much. However in my fourth grade and third grade class, I get to work one on one with students. In the third grade class, I assisted a student who was struggling with Lexia. In fourth grade, I got to take role and help the teacher more than in previous weeks. One of my favorite student transferred out this week, so I’m sure when I go back Monday, that the class won’t be the same. Overall, it was a pretty great week at practicum.

So far in TAP 3, I feel like we have grown with each other and expanded our communication skills. I feel like we had a pretty good first nine weeks and I am looking forward to the second nine weeks. I enjoyed the brochure, but feel like we could’ve utilized the information better. I enjoy activities like that one better than just doing plain, old research. As far as the practicum goes, I feel like I am getting skills from the fourth grade class, but not from the third grade class. Usually, I just sit in the third grade class or just walk around. However, in the fourth grade class I get to have one on one participation with students doing small activities with them to assess how well they know the topic that they are learning currently or just finished learning.

This week in fourth grade, I pulled students back to the small table and assessed their knowledge of how to draw angles using a protractor. This assessment was very short, used to make sure they had the information necessary. On Monday’s I go to the SPED classroom and see how Mrs. Tower makes accommodations for her students and how they all learn differently. In the third grade RTI class that I go to on Wednesday’s, I assisted a student with English work that he struggled with on Lexia. He was able to focus more since we were one on one and did a terrific job.

Owl Pellets: An Agriculture Education podcast focusing on diverse topics each episode. The podcast is led by Misty Lambert and Aaron McKim. The episode I listened to, episode 6, focused on defining what the Ag teacher’s role is in the classroom. They said that is is about connecting science and society to relate to Agriculture.

Ag with Ms. Wedger: A podcast centered around a teacher’s class with special needs students and how she accommodates to her students with special needs. Hannah Wedger, an Agriculture teacher in Minnesota shares her experiences and tips that she’s learned over the years to further help her students who have a variety of disabilities.

Lanecast: This podcast features an ag teacher, from Montana. He talked about the challenges of teaching Agriculture Education. He describes the technological advances that have been developed recently, and how he plans to help his students utilize this technology in their careers. He also detailed how it is tough to keep the community values with the technological advances.

This week, I have started going to a SPED class one day and the third grade class the other day. I am now also allowed to work with students individually while I am in the fourth grade classroom. During my time with the third grade class on Wednesday, I got to experience the enrichment class that is held in the library. It was very cool to see students being challenged beyond their regular class work.

Fourth Grade Lemonade shares several lesson ideas and how they fit into her learning standards. Also, I loved how detailed she was when she posted about the Cinderella book lesson. She described each story and how it related to her lesson and how it all tied together. This is a great blog for lesson plans!

Teaching in the Fast Lane posts relevant topics that are imperative for the classroom. For example, she posted about classroom management, which is a huge passion of mine. With her knowledge, I can become more knowledgeable and upgrade my teaching for the better!!

Pocketful of Primary, is my favorite blog ever! I also enjoy watching her vlogs on YouTube. She portrays what an actual day in the life of a teacher is like.
